The State Center Welding Program is an innovative not-for-credit cohort-based workforce development program that seeks to train residents of the historically disadvantaged Southwest Fresno community for a career in the in-demand field of welding. The program is funded by the Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) and Fresno County EDC's Good Jobs Challenge grant in partnership with State Center Community College District. Over 18 weeks of accelerated training, students gain the skills and knowledge they need to have a successful career as a welder. The program is offered at no cost to the student. Program completers will have the opportunity to gain their AWS certification in GMAW, FCAW and SMAW welding.
